Art in the Rotunda
Since its première in August 2000, GEA’s Art in the Rotunda exhibition series has been a highlight in the multi-faceted arts scene of the Ruhr region. The event owes its name to the glass dome of the GEA Center which provided an ideal location for showing paintings, graphic art, sculptures, objets d’art, photography and installations.
Artists applying to the company for one of the four exhibitions per year must have connections with the Ruhr region. Two to three artists normally share an exhibition inaugurated by a Vernissage and a lecture. Exhibitions are open to the general public and documented by catalogues. The average number of visitors at a Vernissage is 250 to 350.
Art in the Rotunda is intended as an off mainstream platform. The quarterly events are held to promote talent and to create public contacts.
